Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
